Child & Youth Finance International (CYFI) aims to increase financial inclusion, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship among young people throughout Europe and Central Asia.
Global Money Week has been an incredible success among European countries! Held under the patronage of the European Parliament, the Global Money Week 2015 saw the involvement of 42 countries from the region involved in the celebrations GMW 2016 saw a significant increase in participation - over 47 countries from Europe & Central Asia joined the celebrations, including European organizations such as Insurance Europe, WSBI and EBF and its members. CYFI, its partners and EFSE-DF also started a research study on financial behavior and attitudes of youth in seven countries of South-Eastern Europe during GMW.
In 2015 CYFI established South-Eastern European Regional Working Group for Youth Financial Education and Financial Inclusion that will serve as the place for sharing best practices, exchanging experiences, identifying technical assistance opportunities to support action plans development and implementation. Eight countries became members of the Working Group, and the first meeting took place in Sinaia, Romania in November 2015, hosted by the National Bank of Romania.
Supported by the International Visegrad Fund, CYFI launched a project, aimed at building institutional capacity of civil society and public institutions in the countries of Visegrad Eastern Partnership Region (Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia and Azerbaijan) in the area of financial literacy and economic citizenship education for youth, using extensive experience of V4 countries – Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia - and CYFI network expertise. The kick-off meeting of the project took place in Bratislava, Slovakia in October 2015, hosted by the Institute of Banking Education of the National Bank of Slovakia.
The European Parliament and the European Economic and Social Committee invited young entrepreneurs and potential investors to the European launch and pitching event of Ye! the latest initiative of Child & Youth Finance International aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs during the Global Money Week. What better place to close the amazing Global Money Week than in Turkey.
In Europe Schoolbank is implemented with the support of EFSE DF in 3 countries: Romania, Macedonia and Moldova. More updates on the implementation phases and the results will be available soon.
