CYFI has held a series of Summits, designed to bring our partners and stakeholders together to share their experiences and expertise around Economic Citizenship for children and youth.

Each Summit has been focused around:

  • Sharing innovations and best practices based on the current youth economic citizenship landscape
  • Offering hands on workshops and knowledge sharing sessions to promote institutional learning and the dissemination of best practice
  • Inspiring active youth participation and outreach, both nationally and internationally, and incorporating youth views in the strategic planning of the international network

Summit 2016

Taking place in Bucharest, Romania in June 2016, CYFI’s 4th International Summit focused on recapping the first 5 years of the Child and Youth Finance Movement and launching the CYFI 2016-2020 Strategy for achieving Economic Citizenship for young people everywhere. Hosted by the National Bank of Romania, Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research and Financial Supervisory Authority of Romania, the meeting gathered partners from around the world to address the gaps, challenges and opportunities for economic empowerment of young people across the globe.

Summit 2014

CYFI’s 2014 Summit, titled ‘A chance for change: Child and Youth Finance and the Post-2015 Agenda” was a high-level stakeholder meeting organized by CYFI, with the support of UNCDF and held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, USA. The Summit consisted of a High-Level Stakeholders Meeting and a Youth Meeting, with the aim of ensuring that children and youth are involved in decision making processes and that their financial and livelihood wellbeing is included in the Post-2015 agenda.

Summit 2013

Held in Instanbul, Turkey, the 2nd International CYFI Summit provided the Movement’s partners with the opportunity to reconvene and celebrate their accomplishments. Highlights of the Summit included expression of support from the incoming Turkish Presidency of the G20 and UN Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon, and commitment to deeper collaboration in each world region in which CYFI works.

Summit 2012

The 1st annual CYFI Summit was the first meeting to focus on financial issues specifically for children and youth. It was also the first convention where children and youth discussed issues and shared their recommendations directly to policymakers and practitioners. This inaugural Summit saw joint commitments to collaborate across sectors and regions to accelerate the Child and Youth Finance Movement.
